How It's Baked

This cookie may be called "basic," but don't let the name fool you — it's anything but boring.

We start with unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and a touch of light brown sugar — creamed together until perfectly smooth. Then cage-free eggs and pure Madagascar vanilla are mixed in until fully combined.

The dry mix comes together with King Arthur flour, our leaveners, and a pinch of kosher salt to round it all out.

Each cookie is hand-scooped and baked to a soft, chewy center with golden edges.

Simple. Classic. Done right.
